RE/MAX Boone Realty is a locally owned company with roots in the community that go back to 1894.  Today the company is run by sixth-generation decendants.

The late Mary Jane Mendenhall, wife of E. Hirst Mendenhall, is best known as a successful Realtor and civic leader. Mary Jane joined forces with her father's company, founded in 1894, and the Mendenhall real estate company eventually became RE/MAX Boone Realty, the largest real estate firm in Columbia.

Fifth-generation Mendenhalls include Mary Jane's sons, Richard and Tom. Tom is a developer with interests that include Lake of the Woods South, Bonne Femme Estates and, most recently, a 178-acre development site along Old Plank Road. Richard is owner and president of RE/MAX Boone Realty, where his daughter, Elizabeth, and his son, Ford, also work.

Richard Mendenhall, president National Association of Realtors® (NAR) in 2001, established the Realtors’ Housing Relief Fund in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks. The fund collected and paid out more than $8.5 million in less than 100 days to families of victims by funding three months of their mortgage and rental payments.

Richard also established the NAR HOPE Awards, honoring groups and individuals across America who have helped hundreds of thousands of minority families become homeowners.

Elizabeth Mendenhall, CEO of RE/MAX Boone Realty, has won industry awards for her performance. Elizabeth served as President of the Missouri Assocation of REALTORS in 2010. In 2006, she became founder and board president of a Columbia affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
